INTRODUCTION
The Wheelchair Basketball Association
(Singapore) [WBA Singapore] was established on 7 Jul 2007.
It is a member of the Singapore Disability Sports Council
and affiliated with international wheelchair basketball bodies.
The objectives of WBA
Singapore are:
a. To provide support and guidance
to people with or without disabilities who participate in
the sports;
b. To promote wheelchair basketball for all others able and
disabled Singaporeans of all ages;
c. To hold, coordinate or organise competitions and other
events in wheelchair basketball with the support and approval
of relevant controlling bodies at an international, regional
and local level;
d. To promote and encourage the participation of players,
teams, organisations and individuals from Singapore who are
interested in wheelchair basketball at an international, regional,
local or other competitions and events: and
e. To offer facilities, coaching and other technical knowledge
to advance the cause of wheelchair basketball in Singapore.
To meet
the above objectives, the Association may maintain facilities,
raise funds, organise competitions, conduct public awareness
events or form alliances with other organisations, bodies,
associations or corporations for such purposes.
Membership
is open to all individuals, corporations and associations
of all age with the following categories of membership:
a. Life Membership
b. Ordinary Membership
c. Associate Membership
d. Corporate Membership
e. Junior Membership
The administration
of the Association shall be entrusted to a 12 member Management
Committee.
